Thought for the day for today, Wednesday, May 1, 2002:
Whenever I get sad about my life, I think about the last words of my uncle…”TRUCK!”
NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION:
This is the most common pet peeve among shoppers at grocery stores. What is it?
Answer: People blocking the aisles with their carts.
The answers to this are endless. You can make a list of your own…from people not having their checkbooks ready when they get to the PAYING TIME with the cashier. Then there’s the “too many items in the express lane” thing.
I have a problem with people walking in the parking lot. They just amble along IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVING LANE! Hello, I’m in a CAR behind you. GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY!
DO YOU SPEAK OZBOURNEESE?
“The Osbourne’s” just keeps rocking along. It’s the hottest show on TV. Last night, the Ozzy family celebrated Christmas. It was pretty interesting seeing a former Satan worshiper (allegedly) celebrating the birth of Christ.
I GOT FAT, SO WHAT?
Kelly’s favorite show, “Oprah” discussed a sensitive topic yesterday. It dealt with weight gain and relationships. Face it, if your significant other gains excessive weight, it can adversely affect your passion. People on the show yesterday expressed to Dr. Phil their disgust for their partner because he/she gained a lot of weight. Should it matter?
We had tons of calls on this one. A few said, YES IT DOES make a difference. One woman said she is no longer attracted to her husband because of his additional 70 LBS. What makes it worse, she said, is his unwillingness to DO ANYTHING about it. They used to ride bicycles but now he won’t get off the couch.
Other women had the opposite experience. The WOMEN gained weight and the MAN lost interest.
HOWEVER, we did get more than a few calls from women who bragged of husbands who express and display their love for their overweight wives.
Bottom line is, you cannot force, nag, insult, guilt or blackmail anyone into losing weight. A person should lose weight for himself or herself, not for anyone else.
SPIDER MAN
We saw the movie in a sneak preview last night. Kelly and I were slightly less than blown away. It was draggy in places but the kids will love it. The special effects are impressive, the acting adequate and the violence relentless. There are only a couple of mild expletives to embarrass parents. There is a harmless love story and a definite good VS evil struggle that will, NO DOUBT, lead to a sequel. It will have a big splash but I’m afraid a fast burn out. It hits the theatres Friday.
Tomorrow we’ll have another HOOTY HOO for your Music Midtown tickets as Kelly and I get ready for our appearance at the Chic-Fil-A Charity Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez. We’re in the Pro-Am playing with Vicky Goetz-Ackerman. Hopefully, we won’t stink up the place too badly. Have a great day, we’ll see you tomorrow.
