A Company-wide Project to Generate Profits for the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Based on the overwhelming response to last year’s Ribbons of Love Diffuser, Archipelago’s taking it to another level by adding a matching candle to the 2008 mix. Repeated requests by Archipelago fans for a matching candle in the same fresh and invigorating scent make it a natural fit and together with the diffuser.

For Archipelago, a popular home fragrance and bath and body company whose executive staff is mainly comprised of women, the reason to support breast cancer was easy. “You don’t have to look very far to find somebody whose life has been affected by breast cancer,” says Archipelago Co-Founder David Klass. “My own mother was diagnosed, treated and is now very active in the fight. My father-in-law actually passed away from the disease; like most guys, he didn’t even know that men could get it. As the father of two girls and the owner of company employing mostly women – it’s personal.”

So when the women of Archipelago came to the owners in 2007 with their proposal to create a special product to help fund the fight against Breast Cancer, the project got a quick and enthusiastic green light. In a company-wide effort, the Ribbons of Love Collection was conceived, created and developed by the women in the company. In a nice, graffiti-like show of support, each product is actually signed by the all the women who made it happen.

A blend of Pink Grapefruit, Clementine and Pomelo

“The fragrance honors my grandmother, Joan Mintz. When she was going through her chemo treatments she was always eating grapefruits off the tree in her backyard. While she loved the taste of them she always told me the scent of the grapefruit cleared the offensive scents of the chemo and made her feel like she was human again. Every time I smell or eat a grapefruit it brings a smile to my face and it reminds me of her.”

A Graffitti-like show of support
The signature frosted pink bottle and glass with matching pink boxes are signed by the women who worked together to create the products. The reed diffuser comes in an 8.2 oz. bottle, filled with an essential oil blend of fragrance. The matching pink candle is hand poured in a soy wax blend to burn cleaner and longer than regular wax.
