It’s called the “No Buy 2025” movement and it’s gaining traction. Participants are being encouraged to significantly reduce their spending on non-essential items. Here are some comprehensive rules and guidelines derived from various sources to help you understand and possibly join this movement. Even if you can’t follow all the rules any effort will make a difference in your pocketbook for 2025.

  • No new clothes, shoes, or accessories (Only replace essential items when they wear out)
  • No new furniture or décor items (Includes throw pillows, rugs, or art)
  • No new makeup, skincare, or hair products (Use up existing items before buying new)
  • No new craft or DIY supplies (Unless it’s needed to complete an ongoing project)
  • No new books or cookbooks (Library, secondhand store or borrow)
  • No New electronics
  • No takeout, coffee, fast food, or dining out
  • No impulse snacks or drinks while out
  • No random amazon or online purchases
