Jimmy Carter’s family members are gathering in South Georgia ahead of the start of the official state ceremonies to honor the 39th President who passed away on Sunday.

The body of the former President will be taken Saturday morning from the Americus Medical Center to the family home in Plains.

That procession then makes its way to Atlanta.

Several roads around the Carter Center are now closed and will remain that way through noon on Tuesday, including portions of Freedom Parkway and North Highland Avenue.

MARTA is providing a free shuttle bus service that will operate to and from the King Memorial Station.
