SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — There are only so many video games that can be played when a teen is in a yearlong pandemic lockdown.
But Ben Tolliday gathered two-by-fours, PVC pipe, cinder blocks and sandbags, and put some engineering prowess to work to build his own backyard roller coaster at his Sandy Springs, Georgia, home, WSBTV reported.
It took him about three weeks to build the track.
He even built a car with casters to help it roll on the track.
Tolliday took the first ride.
“I was absolutely terrified. But I guess because I built it, I knew how sturdy it was. So, I was pretty confident I’d be OK, but I was screaming my head off. It was crazy,” he told WSBTV.

His mother has ridden the coaster but said it will not be staying.
“I’m looking forward to getting my yard back. I’ve got some plants trying to grow underneath. Yes, this is not going to be a permanent fixture in my yard, I can tell you that,” Kathleen Tolliday told WSBTV.
Ben Tolliday will be going off to college soon, and said he would like to pursue this as a career eventually.
“That would be my dream job to build stuff like this for people and then see their reaction when they go down it for the first time,” he said.
